$60K Raised For Dog Left Homeless By Xmas Fire

When a fire broke out in a New York City apartment on Christmas day, Cesar Fernandez-Chavez lost his home and all of his possessions. Fortunately, he was out walking his dog, Louboutina, so they weren’t hurt in the fire, but they came back to their home up in flames.

Luckily, Louboutina, or Loubie for short, has more than 190,000 followers on Instagram and she’s become famous this year for her “hugs” - the embraces she gives away to people on the streets - and her agent started a GoFundMe campaign for the pooch and her owner. In just a few short days, they’ve blown past the fundraising goal of $20,000 and have raised more than $63,000 and counting.

Fernandez-Chavez says it was a “Christmas miracle” that he and Loubie were unscathed in the fire. They’ve lost all their possessions, but he’s grateful they’re alive. “Maybe this time we had a guardian angel walking us out of the building,” he says.
