It’s a happy ending for a five-year-old boy who fell 30-feet down a narrow storm drain in Indiana and was rescued on the Fourth of July. The Evansville Fire Department reports they responded to a call and found the boy in a 16-inch diameter pipe, which was too narrow for firefighters to rescue him.
They tried several different ideas and finally someone suggested lowering a swing set seat down to him and that’s what worked to bring him up safely. The department asked the kid to sit on the seat like he was riding a horse so they could pull him up while the sides of the pipe kept him from falling off. The plan worked and within a couple hours, the boy was out and officials say he had no injuries other than scrapes and bruises.
