Good news from the legislature for the city of Minot. A bill that would reserve nearly $200 million for flood protection efforts for the Minot area passed through conference committee and the House yesterday.
The bill lists $193 million for flood control for the Souris River through the next four bienniums through 2025.
The money would effectively fund the first four phases of the flood protection plan and pay for roughly 60 percent of relocation of properties in at-risk areas of flooding along the river basin.
The bill now goes to the Senate floor today and if passed will go to Governor Doug Burgum’s desk.
