Magicians BB Postseason Honors

Two players and the head coach of state champion Minot High have received postseason honors from USA Today.

Head Coach Dean Winczewski was named the 2016-17 American Family Insurance All_USA TODAY North Dakota Coach of the Year for boys basketball.  This past year, Winczewski led the Magicians to their third straight state title, only the third team in state history to accomplish that feat.

In addition to the honor for Winczewski, Magi point guard KyJuan Johnson was named to the first team and Justin Engg was a second team selection.

Joining Johnson on the first team was Player of the Year Aanen Moody of Dickinson, Jacob Mertens of Devils Lake, Trawnis McKay of Four Winds-Minnewaukan and Jake Paper of Fargo Davies.  Joining Engg on the second team was Siman Sem of Fargo North, Logan Nelson of Northern Cass, Matt Veit of Fargo Davies and Trae Steckler of Mandan.  Steckler was the only underclassmen to be named to the team.
