Two Beavers Named to NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team

MINOT STATE SENIORS MICHAEL BORST AND JAYMON CERVANTES HAVE CAPPED OFF THEIR FINAL SEASON BY BEING NAMED TO THE ALL-NSIC CONFERENCE BASEBALL TEAM. AFTER TWO SEASONS AS A SECOND TEAMER, BORST WAS A FIRST TEAM SELECTION THIS SEASON WHILE CERVANTES EARNED A SECOND TEAM SPOT.

BORST FINISHED THE REGULAR SEASON RANKED IN THE TOP TEN IN IN THE NSIC IN EIGHT STATISTICAL CATEGORIES INCLUDING SECOND IN RBI, ON-BASE PERCENTAGE AND STOLEN BASES AND FOURTH IN BATTING AVERAGE AND DOUBLES.

CERVANTES BECAME THE FIRST BEAVERS PITCHER TO BE NAMED TO THE ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM. HE NOTCHED A 7-1 RECORD THIS SPRING IN 11 APPEARANCES. HE TOSSED FOUR COMPLETE GAMES WHILE STRIKING OUT 66 BATTERS IN JUST OVER 57 INNINGS. HE SET THE SINGLE SEASON WINS RECORD THIS SEASON WHILE ALSO SETTING THE D-2 CAREER WINS RECORD AT MINOT STATE WITH 13-1 MARK.
