The Full Story:
March 13th is National Earmuffs Day! In 1873, a fifteen-year-old boy named Chester Greenwood from Main invented the earmuffs on this day. According to one legend, Chester liked to go skating at a nearby pond but couldn’t find a war to keep his ears warms. Anything he tried was either too bulky or too itchy, so he came up with the “Greenwood Champion Ear Protectors.” In 1877, Chester patented his invention and opened a successful factory. Ear muffs have been used ever since.
