City of Minot ends request for residents to limit water usage
The City of Minot has ended its request that residents voluntarily limit water usage after the car-bon dioxide (CO2) supply was restocked at the Water Treatment Plant.
A shipment of CO2 arrived at the treatment facility Monday night, and the supply schedule is re-turning to normal, according to City of Minot officials.
“We want to thank everyone who voluntarily limited their water usage for a few days while we restocked our CO2 supply because of unexpected delays caused by one of our suppliers,” said Minot Public Works Director Dan Jonasson. “The cooperation of our water users has allowed the Water Treatment Plant to catch up and return to its normal process involving CO2.”
CO2 is used to balance out the pH levels in the City’s water supply after the incoming raw water has completed the softening process.
Water usage in Minot peaks during summer months. The Water Treatment Plant is capable of treating between 13 million and 14 million gallons of water per day; peak summer usage often rises to those numbers during dry times when residents water their lawns.
The City reminds residents of the watering schedule that has been utilized in the last few years:
Even-numbered street addresses can water on Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Odd-numbered street addresses can water on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
All street addresses can water on Sunday
