This year, April 6th is National Burrito Day! On the first Thursday in April, those of us who adore “comida mexicana” (that’s Mexican food) get to celebrate National Burrito Day! Now, it’s not an “official” holiday as recognized by Congress, but for those that love the chow – this is a glorious day.

Never had one? The best part is that you can fill them with whatever you like: beans and cheese, meat and rice, shrimp and rice with veggies – whatever you dream up gets stuffed inside a flour tortilla, folded and it becomes the perfect hand food.

The Bottom Line: April 6th is National Caramel Popcorn Day!

April 6th is National Caramel Popcorn Day! In January, we celebrated National Popcorn Day. On April 5th, we celebrate caramel. Why not put them together? Caramel popcorn is one of America’s favorite snacks – and for many people, this chewy caramel popcorn treat is an all time favorite.

Combining popcorn and molasses began in the early 1800s. Caramel was popular as well and with the production of Cracker Jack (which was introduced at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893), the popularity was ever increasing.

Caramel corn is an American confection made of popcorn coated with a sugar or molasses based caramel candy shell.

Some varieties, after coating with the candy syrup, are baked in an oven to crisp the mixture. Mixes of caramel corn sometimes contain nuts, such as peanuts, pecans, almonds, or cashews.
