Things to know about the game: By Richard Dean / Special to MLB.com & Rhett Bollinger
• Miguel Sano will begin May with a 1.127 OPS, bolstered by 14 extra-base hits. They haven't been cheap ones, as his average exit velocity of 108.5 mph on those doubles, triples and homers ranked first among players with at least 10 extra-base hits through the end of April.
• Oakland's current road trip is one of two nine-game trips for the A's this year. They will also be on the road from Sept. 12-20. The A's went 1-2 at Target Field last year, but they swept the Twins in three games at home.
• Santana is 4-0 with a 0.77 ERA, making it the first time in Twins history a starter has posted a sub-1.00 ERA through his first five starts of the season. He's a candidate to be named the American League Pitcher of the Month for April.
• Both teams have an off-day on Monday, which gives Santana extra rest and also pushes back left-hander Hector Santiago to start on Wednesday. Santiago has been on the bereavement list since Friday, and he is expected to rejoin the Twins on Wednesday. Lefty Buddy Boshers will remain on the roster as an extra reliever for Tuesday's series opener.
