Things to know about the game: By Rhett Bollinger / MLB.com

• Santiago struggled last time out, allowing six runs on eight hits over six innings against the Astros. After posting a 2.43 ERA in five April starts, Santiago struggled in May with a 6.89 ERA. But Santiago has had success against the Mariners with a 3.09 ERA in 55 1/3 innings, including a 2.22 ERA in 24 1/3 innings at Safeco Field.

• Paxton also has good numbers against Minnesota, going 1-1 with a 1.54 ERA in two starts. He's only allowed runs in two of his seven starts, as he's turned in five scoreless outings this year.

• The Mariners will be without shortstop Jean Segura for the foreseeable future, as he sustained a right high-ankle sprain that could keep him out more than a month. The Twins rested shortstop Jorge Polanco and center fielder Byron Buxton on Sunday, but both are expected in the lineup Tuesday.
