• Nelson Cruz clubbed a 111.3 mph double in Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Blue Jays. While that kind of exit velocity may mark a career-high for the majority of Major League Baseball, it was already Cruz's 21st batted ball of at least 110 mph, the fourth-highest total in baseball behind Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Manny Machado. Cruz ranked third last year for the most 110 mph-plus batted balls, with 44.

• Swinging at the first pitch has yielded positive results against Mejia. Opposing batters have a .421 average with a 1.263 OPS on him in that situation.

• In 24 career plate appearances against Gallardo, Twins first baseman Joe Mauer is hitting .421 with an on-base percentage of .500.
