November 7th is Hug a Bear Day! Today is the day where we show our love for our stuffed teddy bears! Whether you would like to admit it or not, everyone has that stuffed animal that they have forever loved and today is their day of celebration.
A fun fact of these beloved plush animals is that the ancient Egyptians are credited with creating the first ones! Unfortunately, there have not been any found remains of the plush toys but paintings on tombs in Egypt do suggest that they did have the animal toys. The modern version came along in the 1800s. In the 1830’s, they were first introduced by being homemade with cloth and straw. Germany started to manufacture stuffed animals in 1880.
Today you should go find your old teddy bear and appreciate it! Cuddle up with it! If you want, go out and purchase another one and give it a nice home. Happy Hug a Bear Day!
