1915 Tales From Old Timers #14 – Part Two – Indian Scare – There was quite a scare in Minot throughout 1889 on account of the Indian uprising in South Dakota, but no trouble was experienced in immediate vicinity. Where the Great Northern Depot now stands the Indians used to hold their pow-wows, including the famous Sun-dance, that has been prohibited by the government. It was not until 1902 that prohibition reached the city, and although Minot has lost much of her western atmosphere, she still has the reputation of being a “Live Town”.
