State "A" Boys Basketball All-State Team

Mr. Basketball candidates Trae Steckler of Mandan and Joe Pistorius of West Fargo headline the State Class “A” Boys Basketball first team.  Steckler, a 6-4 forward, averaged 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in helping the Braves to a third place finish at the state tournament.  Pistorius, a 6-3 guard, led the East Region in two categories averaging 22.5 points and 2.9 steals.  He also was tied for first with 4.5 assists per game.  Other first teamers included both Kade Amundson and Josh Sipes of state champion Bismarck Century and Zach Westphal of state runnerup West Fargo Sheyenne.  Amundson, a 6-6 senior, averaged 12 points and 6.5 rebounds per game for the Patriots.  Sipes, a 6-3 senior, averaged 14.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. 

Westphal, a 6-1 senior, averaged 21.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists in leading the Mustangs to their first ever state title game appearance.

The second team includes two seniors and three juniors.  The seniors are Chandler Albertson of Minot High and Jake Kava of Fargo Shanley.  The juniors are Braeden Motschenbacher of Fargo Davies, Luke Lennon of West Fargo and Mason Walters of Jamestown.
