River accident and DUI arrest

SUMMARY OF CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING INCIDENT: On August 29, 2018 at 9:45 PM Minot Central Dispatch was notified a vehicle had been driven into the Souris River in the area of 5 Ave NW and 6 St. NW. 

As Officers were en route Dispatch relayed the vehicle's 3 occupants were able to get out of the car and river.

Witnesses stated the vehicle was traveling westbound on 5 Ave. NW at a high rate of speed and the driver lost control near the intersection at 6th St. NW.

The vehicle then proceeded down the embankment into the river after striking a light pole.

The driver, Christopher Lithgow, was arrested for DUI (B-Mis). 

The two passengers were taken to Trinity Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The car will be removed as soon as possible.
