Additional COVID-19 Testing Days Announced
The North Dakota Department of Health will be offering free COVID testing at the Minot Municipal Auditorium on January 15th, 17th, and 22ndfrom 8:30am – 1:00pm on a walk-in basis.
- Testing will be done in the front ticketing area. Park in the main south parking lot.
No appointments are needed, but everyone to be tested should be pre-registered at testreg.nd.gov. Anyone can be tested, regardless of residency or reason for testing, and all tests are free. Masks are required. Both the PCR molecular test and the Binax Now rapid test will be available. Results of the PCR test will be available within 72 hours, and the results of the rapid tests will be available in 2 hours. More information can be found at www.fdhu.org.

City of Minot offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 17, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, including City Hall, Public Works, and the Engineering Department. The City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 18, instead of Monday, Jan. 17. The Minot Public Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Jan. 17. The fifth annual State of the City, featuring an address from Mayor Shaun Sipma, will be held Feb. 18. The noon luncheon event will take place at the former Cognizant building located at 2000 21st Avenue NW. The building is now owned by the Minot Public School District, and is scheduled to become the city’s second public high school. The event is open to the public. Winter anglers are reminded that any fish house left unoccupied on North Dakota waters must be made of materials that will allow it to float.
Other fish house regulations include:
- Fish houses do not require a license.
- Occupied structures do not require identification. However, any unoccupied fish house must have an equipment registration number issued by the North Dakota Game and Fish Department, or the owner’s name, and either an address or telephone number, displayed on its outside in readily distinguishable characters at least 3 inches high.
- Fish houses may not be placed closer than 50 feet in any direction to another house without consent of the occupant of the other fish house.
- All unoccupied fish houses must be removed from all waters after midnight, March 15.
AARP Foundation is seeking volunteers in Minot, for its Tax-Aide program, the nation’s largest volunteer-based tax preparation service. Volunteers may sign up to assist taxpayers either in person or virtually, with a number of roles available.
