House Prepares Vote To Send Trump Impeachment Articles To The Senate

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi

The House of Representatives will vote on Wednesday (January 15) to send the articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump to the Senate. The resolution will name the House members who will serve as managers of the impeachment, and provide funding for the trial.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has not announced who will be named as managers. Their job will be to prosecute the case against President Trump in the Senate trial, which will determine whether he is removed from office.

The House voted to impeach Trump on December 18, but Pelosi has been withholding the articles of impeachment over concerns about how the Republican-controlled Senate would handle the trial.

"We want to see what they're willing to do, and the manner in which they will do it," Pelosi said. "But we will not let them say, 'This is just like Clinton, fair is fair.' It is not."

While it is unclear who will lead the case against Trump, a White House official told Fox News that the president's legal team is set. White House Counsel Pat Cipollone will take the lead and will be helped by Jay Sekulow as well as Michael Purpura and Patrick Philbin.
