Speaker Pelosi Announces Impeachment Managers, Signs And Transmits Articles To Senate For Trial

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi revealed the seven Democrats who will serve as managers in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump. House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff will be the lead manager in the Senate trial and will be joined by Jerry NadlerHakeem JeffriesJason CrowZoe LofgrenVal Demings, and Sylvia Garcia.

"This is a very serious matter, and we take it to heart in a really solemn way," Pelosi said. "It's about the Constitution, it's about the republic if we can keep it and [senators] shouldn't be frivolous with the Constitution of the United States even though the president of the United States has."

Pelosi said she picked the managers based on their experience as litigators.

"As you can see from these descriptions, the emphasis is on litigators," Pelosi said. "The emphasis is on comfort level in the courtroom. The emphasis is on making the strongest possible case to protect and defend our Constitution to seek the truth for the American people."

Pelosi made the announcement as the House is set to vote to send the two articles of impeachment to the Senate, which will hold a trial to determine if President Trump should be removed from office.

The Senate trial is expected to begin next Tuesday (January 21).
