The driver of the Ford pickup, 21 year old Samuel Leighton, was moving the pickup a short distance in his driveway in Towner. After moving approximately 50 feet, the driver got out and saw the small child laying in the driveway. The driver did not realize he struck the pedestrian until after parking the pickup. The 5 year old child was transported to Trinity hospital by ambulance where she was pronounced dead. The driver did not sustain any injuries. The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
