On Nov. 16, Minot Central Dispatch received a report of a burglary and assault at a residence in northwest Minot early in the morning. The suspect reportedly broke into the residence and strangled the victim. Eventually, the victim escaped the home and contacted police. Officers from the Minot Police Department arrived on the scene and quickly determined that the suspect had fled. The suspect, Scott Andrew Flood, 34, of Minot, was located and arrested for Burglary (B Felony), Domestic Violence – Serious Bodily Injury (C Felony), and Interference with an Emergency Phone Call (C Felony). Flood was initially charged with the above listed charges. After consultation with the Ward County State’s Attorney, the decision was made to amend the charges and add Attempted Murder (A Felony). Today, the District Court accepted the amended charge. Flood is now charged with Attempted Murder (A Felony), Burglary (B Felony), Domestic Violence – Serious Bodily Injury (C – Felony) and Interference with an Emergency Phone Call (CFelony).
