Surgeries Plastic Surgeons would never get:
Brazilian Butt Lift - Better known as the BBL, it’s the transfer of fat to the booty to give it more volume and shape. Dr. Sam Fuller says he’d never get one, explaining, “It has some of the highest complication rates within plastic surgery, including bleeding, deformity, pain, blood clots, and death.” He adds that the recovery, which involves lying on your stomach for weeks, is another reason he’d pass on it. Dr. Brandon Richland points out he wouldn’t have a BBL as they have “the highest mortality of any cosmetic plastic surgery procedure.”
Liquid Rhinoplasty - This is a nonsurgical nose reshaping done with fillers and cosmetic surgeon Andrew Kwak warns of the complications that come with it. “The nose and area between the eyes carry fine arteries that can cause severe skin damage if they’re inadvertently injected with a filler.” Richland says when done by untrained providers, the procedure has a high risk of skin necrosis and even a risk of blindness.
Buccal Fat Removal - People love this for creating more sculpted cheekbones, but if it’s overdone, Richland warns that it can “lead to severe deformity and a ‘skeleton’ appearance.”
The “Fox Eye” Trend and Thread Lifts - This trendy procedure is popular with celebs and influencers who want to create an almond-shaped eye. Dr. Robert Schwarcz, a double board-certified oculofacial plastic surgeon, calls the Fox eye procedure “abused” and “destructive to the eye area. He explains that the main concerns are cosmetic deformity, damage to facial nerves, scarring and alopecia.
