On February 13th at 20:17, a Ward County deputy assigned to (ICAC), Internet Crimes Against Children investigator initiated an online conversation with a male individual who indicated that he wanted to meet a sixteen year old girl.
The Ward County deputy, posing as a sixteen year old girl, agreed to the online conversation. The conversation let to the defendant allegedly distributing to the sixteen year old girl pornographic information.
The individual was identified and a warrant was sought for his arrest.
On February 15th deputies from the Ward County Sheriff’s Department traveled to Watford City, where with the assistance with McKenzie County deputies, they took into custody 26 year old Derrik Dustin Childs.
After his arrest, he was interviewed and transported to the Ward County Jail where he is being held on a charge of luring a minor by electronic means. This charge is a Class C felony. He will be held in the Ward County Jail pending his initial appearance in Ward County District Court.
