Minot Fire Department conducting air quality tests near fire scene

The City of Minot Fire Department, in conjunction with the First District Health Unit and the North Dakota Department of Health, is conducting tests and monitoring the air quality in an area around the U.S. Highway 83 bypass, near the scene of an ongoing fire at Earth Recycling Inc. in northwest Minot.

Officials have determined there is no need to evacuate any areas other than the areas that are di-rectly around the fire area. Monitoring has found little or no changes in air quality. The Minot Fire Department will continue to monitor and ensure the safety of the citizens of Minot.

Crews from the Minot Rural Fire Department and Burlington Fire Department responded today to the blaze at Earth Recycling Inc., located at 3005 4th Ave. NW. The Minot Fire Department is actively monitoring the fire and is remaining available to assist with other potential calls in the Rural Fire Department’s jurisdiction if necessary.

Fire department officials are cautioning motorists to avoid the area, which is just west of the Fourth Avenue Northwest interchange with the U.S. Highway 83 Bypass.
