Minot Central Campus Threat Was Unsubstantiated

Press Release October 13, 2017

This week, the Minot Police Department has been involved in an ongoing investigation into information about a threat of a shooting at Minot High School’s Central Campus.  The threats associated with numerous messages about the shooting on social media sites are unsubstantiated and are based on hearsay and rumor.  The bomb threat appears to have originated from the rumors connected to the original incident about a possible planned shooting, but is not connected to the student implicated in the shooting threat.  The rumors about a student being arrested with a gun in the area of Central Campus is false. The Minot Police Department has not arrested anyone in the area with a firearm.  At this point there are no safety concerns connected to the incidents stemming from these rumors and posts that have been made on social media.  We are asking for anyone with information shared about this incident which specifically single out any suspects by name or photographs be removed or deleted from their device or social media site.
