NEWS RELEASE March 27, 2018
2018 work to start this week on US 83 Broadway Bridge replacement Minot, N.D. –
Construction work on the Broadway Bridge replacement project at the heart of Minot is set to resume this week. Drivers on the northbound portion will experience some temporary lane closures within the first few days, leading up to the projected closure and demolition of the west bridge in the middle of April. “We are asking the public to give themselves a little extra time in going over the Broadway Bridge over the next two weeks or so as we finalize railing on the pedestrian sidewalk before starting demolition of the old west side bridge,” said Brian Bee, Lunda Construction project manager. “If Mother Nature cooperates we will push forward with a full demolition schedule by the middle of next month. ”Just like last year, the traffic will be reduced to head-to-head flow on the new, east bridge allowing the public to maintain use of Broadway while demolition is underway in 2018. Individuals are reminded to be patient while driving through this area and use appropriate caution in the construction zone.Access to businesses in the area will remain open, as will access to the pedestrian walkway on the east bridge. The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration and the City of Minot, is replacing the existing U.S. 83 Broadway Bridges over two construction seasons. The contractor is scheduled to reach substantial completion on the project late in the fall of 2018.If you have questions or concerns you can find more information at the City’s website, www.minotnd.org.
