Fire damages northwest Minot apartment building
The Minot Fire Department extinguished a fire in a northwest Minot apartment building Friday morning.
Firefighters responded to a call at 9:50 a.m. When they arrived on the scene at 1510 Terrace Drive they found fire on a third-floor balcony, with fire extending from the roof of the building to the ground on the exterior of the structure. A crew extinguished the exterior fire while other firefighters entered the building to make sure residents were evacuated. Firefighters also discov-ered fire in the building’s attic and quickly extinguished those flames.
Several occupants of the third-floor apartment were home at the time of the fire. All occupants of the building’s six apartments were safely evacuated without injury. There were no firefighter in-juries in the incident.
The cause of the fire was determined to be improperly discarded smoking materials.
