On March 29, 2020 at 1933 hrs Central Dispatch
received a call of a vehicle driving recklessly in the parking lot near Dakota Square Mall. Officers arrived and
witnessed the vehicle driving at a high rate of speed westbound in the north lot of the mall. Officers attempted
stop the vehicle however the vehicle fled from officers. The vehicle continued to drive onto area sidewalks as
well as over a 3 ft retaining wall. At one point, the vehicle nearly struct a pedestrian walking his dog. Officers
temporarily lost sight of the vehicle but located it again near the area of Walmart. The vehicle continued to
drive westbound through open fields and eventually came to a stop in a coulee after going through a backyard
fence. Officers were able to locate and arrest the driver a short distance away. The driver was identified as 39 yr
old Levi Ward. Ward was taken to Trinity Hospital to get medically evaluated as it was suspected he was under
the influence of drugs. He has since been taken to Ward County Jail. Ward was arrested for Reckless
Endangerment (C-Fel), Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle (C-Fel), Driving Under the Influence (B-Mis), Leaving the
Scene of a Property Damage Accident (B-Mis).
