SUMMARY OF CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING INCIDENT:
Update Release 8/7/2020:
The Minot Police Department is asking for assistance from the public. We are asking citizens living between the 1100 to 1400 block of 1st and 2nd St SE to check their home surveillance systems for footage between the hours of 4:40 and 5:00 a.m. on August 5th. We are specifically looking for any video of people walking in the area or vehicles leaving the area that could be related to the explosion that occurred Wednesday morning. Original Release 8/05/2020:
The Minot Police Department responded to the report of an explosion in SE Minot. Arriving officers located the scene of the explosion outside of a local home. Further examination revealed an intact improvised explosive device (IED). The Minot Area Bomb Squad was dispatched and rendered the IED safe. The Minot Police Department is investigating this incident as endangerment by an explosive device. The home sustained minor damage, and the occupants were not injured. This appears to be a targeted incident and not a random act.
