Minot Chief of Police Placed On Temporary Administrative Leave

  • Minot Chief of Police on temporary administrative leave

Minot Chief of Police John Klug has been placed on temporary, paid administrative leave, effective immediately, while an internal investigation is conducted. This decision was made to ensure a thorough and impartial examination of recent information presented to City management. The Minot Police Department remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism. This action is part of our ongoing efforts to maintain transparency and accountability within our department. “Our police take care of our community; it’s up to us to take care of them,” City Manager Harold Stewart said. “We will work to be sure our response is appropriate and constructive. Our goal is to be sure our staff and our community can take pride in the process and feel valued, heard, protected, and appreciated.” Stewart will lead the investigation, which will assess consistency in past disciplinary measures, staff retention and morale. The investigation is in its early stages and does not yet have a timeline. “We want to work through this as quickly as possible, but we also want to do it right,” Stewart said. “Administrative leave is the best opportunity to help and protect the police department and Chief Klug while we gather information.” During this period, Capt. Dale Plessas will serve as Acting Chief of Police. To preserve the integrity of the review process, we appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as we work to address this matter. Serving our neighbors, building our community with PRIDE. Professionalism | Responsibility | Integrity | Dedication | Excellen
